Right when things were going so well Hummel had to jump in with the "don't fund their sin" and "don't soften God's chastening hand" and "don't rescue them out of the pigsty." That pigsty mention is definitely a reference to the story of the Prodigal Son. The idea, I think, is that the Prodigal Son had to come home on his own, but the way Hummel phrases it just feels off.
